GSFR Goes to Work on Building Fire

At 5:12pm Garden Spot Fire Rescue’s 1st Alarm assignment was transmitted for a reporting building fire. Deputy 39(J. Martin) went enroute and was advised by LCWC that they were receiving multiple calls of a working building fire at 43 Emily Lane. EMS Chief 3-7(Fisher) checked up and advised of a Working Fire with Heavy Smoke showing. Deputy 39(J. Martin) arrived and Confirmed a 2-Story structure with a Heavy smoke showing. Chief 39 (L. Martin) arrived and assumed the Command while Deputy 39 (J. Martin) took the Operations. Chief 39 (L. Martin) requested 3 additional tankers be added to the assignment. Engine 39-1 arrived, hit the plug right in front of the building and made an aggressive interior attack with a 1 ¾ line. Engine 39-1 also deployed at 2 ½ to help with fire suppression. Truck 39 arrived and began venting windows and cutting a hole in the roof. Rescue 48 had the Rit. A Partial floor collapse of the 2nd story happened but no one was injured. The Fire was placed under control at 5:51pm. The PSP Fire Marshall was called to scene to investigate the cause of the fire. The building was a complete loss and was estimated at a $200,000 loss. All crews went available at 8:54pm. GSFR would like to thank assisting companies: Martindale, Gap, Farmersville, Intercourse, Ronks, and New Holland EMS. Also Engine 301 standing by at GSFR Headquarters while crews operated at the fire.
